Institute of Aerospace Medicine (ISAM) is going to face great challenges during the selection process of the astronauts for proposed Gaganyaan mission, because the astronauts who will be sent to space have to face so many difficulties.ISAM commandant Air Commodore Anupam Agarwal said, ‘they have full confidence that ISRO will definitely be able to send their astronauts to space within the time frame set by PM Modi. He further add, they can’ not take any risk during the selection process, the astronauts selected should remain fit for at least 8-10 years because the process will involve a lot of training and money, and they don’t want to lose them in between, because of that the selection will require.
He said that small things can lead to big problems in the space, such as the isolation issues. So it is necessary that the selected astronauts will be physiologically and psychologically sound, because the imbalance could create huge problems and they have to be very careful to take care of every small nuance. He further added that they have that confidence to tackle all these issues’.Anupam Agarwal said that, No country will share their space experience with us and we are the first to send human to space as the part of our Gaganyaan mission. Rest of the countries completed their mission to space."But we'll shoulder this responsibility,".
Air Marshal CK Ranjan said that the space has opened up new frontiers for aerospace medicine and IAM will be the keenly involved in the manned mission from initial phase of the mission till it is recovery stage.
